Condura Skyway Marathon 2013

The Road Eaters aimed high to surpass the uphill challenges of the Subic International Marathon. A week after, they still couldn’t get over the hangover from their running addiction as they reached for the sky -- err... the Skyway.

The Condura Skyway Marathon 2013 promised “an exclusive, traffic-free, clean and well-lit race environment” in the metro, with the Skyway as the major part of the route. Slots for 10K and 21K ran out easily but some lucky Road Eaters Kevin (10K), Jerome (21K) and Jek (21K) got registered at an earlier time. The rest of the Road Eaters registered for the 6K run.

Oh, the always lucky, lucky Jeff!

Anjo and Marvin were there to watch how the race turned into almost a form of festivity. Runners who participated witnessed as each race started with fireworks at Filinvest City in Alabang. This one-of-a-kind race let the participants run while they hold blue mini flags.

Josh's happiness made him look like he's carrying an Olympic torch!

After the race, free ice cream became one of those awesome treats. Finisher’s Medals were also given to all participants.

Sin Tax Run 2012

The last race of the year organized by no less than Runrio Inc. had the cheapest registration fee that the Road Eaters had ever encountered. It was a great opportunity for runners to join a marathon who were not into singlets, medals or any finisher’s items. For the Road Eaters, they were free to choose their favorite singlet to wear.

The Sin Tax Run was a 6 KM run that used the symbolic 16. For a measly sum of 16 pesos, runners could support Coach Rio’s advocacy in voting for health and demand for sin tax reform which was still pending for 16 years. The running event took place on December 16, 2012 at the Seaside Boulevard, Mall of Asia.

Only 5,000 participants would be accepted on a first come, first served basis. As expected, a great number of registrants flocked the registration sites. Some had to bring logbooks with hundreds of names listed. Jemai the generous Road  Eater registered all Road Eaters and paid their registration fees. Wow!

The event happened a week after the Milo Marathon Finals. It was a good form of addiction for the RoadEaters, but aware of some lessons in the past so they decided to jog slow, chat with co-RoadEaters, tease each other, make jokes, and do hilarious running acts just like what Kevin did. They also welcomed Eya, who showed strength during her first run.

Watch how they enjoyed the run and approached the finish line altogether!
