Christmas Party 2012

3 DAYS BEFORE:
“Nag-iisip na ba kayo ng susuotin sa ating party, Road Eaters? The best in attire will be awarded THE STAR OF THE NIGHT (Female) and THE STAG OF THE NIGHT (Male)! Plus more fun and exciting awards and prizes to be given away! Yihee! Kita-kits sa Sabado, Dec. 29, 6PM at True Deli.”

DECEMBER 29, 2012:
“See you later, Road Eaters! Happiness awaits us tonight!”

From the cool –ber Months to colder weeks to even more shivering days... Everyone’s excited to celebrate the first ever Christmas Party of the Road Eaters Running Club. Christmas was always a joyous event, what more if the party was hosted by a hilarious group of people?

The Road Eaters’ Christmas Party was held at True Deli Café on December 29th, days after Christmas, days after celebrating other Christmas parties with co-workers, families and friends. The night’s reserved only for the Road Eaters.

True Deli Café has it’s own version of Filipino style foods for the hungry Road EATERS. Those were:

Mainit na sabaw ng Kabute
Tsiken Pastel
Litson Kawali
Matamis na Maasim na Fish Fillet
Chopseuy
Fruit Salad
Kanin
Nag-uumapaw na Malamig na Tsaa

One of the most awaited part: Time to Eat, Road EATERS!

While waiting for the others to come, videos were shown to present the activities done in the past marathons in the year 2012. Courtesy of Josh.

Of course, what would make the party even more fun? Games!!!

1. Who’s the Cat – the blindfolded must guess who among the participants was the cat. The “cat” was free to manipulate the sound his/her miyaw.

2. Animal Sounds – all blindfolded contestants must find their partners using their agreed upon animal sounds. They had to turn around (and become dizzy!) to make their partners harder to find. The first one to find his/her “animal” partner wins. This game incredibly produced a farm and a jungle at the venue.

3. Build Your Marshmallow Castle – groups of three must build the tallest and strongest marshmallow castle using toothpicks. After building the castle, all marshmallows used must be eaten. The fastest group to gobble them up wins.

4. Dating Game – the most kilig game of all! Eya became the blindfolded searchee while the lucky lads to be chosen were Wax, Arjay and Jeff. Voice-overs were done on their behalf by Kevin, Jemai and Kirk, respectively. It was up to Eya to choose who among them delivered the best romantic pick-up lines. In one scenario, she had to touch their muscles. In the end, the chosen one was Sakuragi.

After the games, the much awaited gift-giving was done.
Oh by the way, there were exchange gifts NO-NO’s:
A. picture frame/album
B. towel/panyo
C. wall clock
D. flower vase
E. plato/baso/tasa
F. sabon
G. kandila
H. wine
I. cash/alkansya/Gift Cheque
J. cellphone load

So most gifts given were runner’s items. Easy!

All winners received gift checks from the club. Those were the following:

Free Registration (Marathon):

March - Wax
April - Kevin
May - Anjo
August - Jeff
November - Hanna D.

Php250 Food expense:

March - Jeff
April - Kevin
May - Carol
June - Carol
July - Anjo
August - Kevin
October - Angelbert
November - Julie

ALL-EXPENSE (Registration, Food, Transportation):

The following received prizes because of their efforts:
Kevin – Early Bird
Jeff – Stag of the Night for his unkabogable checkered long sleeved polo
Hanna – Star of the Night who used to wear loose clothing but came dressed at the party (choz!)

The most symbolic period of the event happened when all Road Eaters raised goblets of red wine – a toast to commemorate the events that led to the progress of the Road Eaters Running Club. They sent cheers to all as they expect auspiciousness in the coming year.

Here's the Christmas Party 2012 video courtesy of Kirk. Check this out!

Happiness didn’t end at True Deli Café. While others needed to go home, some others wanted to cherish the remaining moments before they parted their ways. Carol, Arjay, Josh, Kirk, BJ, Lyvia, and Hanna went to Giligan’s at Trinoma!

Time flew so fast and in just a matter of days, it would be year 2013. At some point of their lives, these children of God met. There are no coincidences. There are no accidents. But there is destiny.

Hanna’s post extracted from FB (with comments):

Sin Tax Run 2012

The last race of the year organized by no less than Runrio Inc. had the cheapest registration fee that the Road Eaters had ever encountered. It was a great opportunity for runners to join a marathon who were not into singlets, medals or any finisher’s items. For the Road Eaters, they were free to choose their favorite singlet to wear.

The Sin Tax Run was a 6 KM run that used the symbolic 16. For a measly sum of 16 pesos, runners could support Coach Rio’s advocacy in voting for health and demand for sin tax reform which was still pending for 16 years. The running event took place on December 16, 2012 at the Seaside Boulevard, Mall of Asia.

Only 5,000 participants would be accepted on a first come, first served basis. As expected, a great number of registrants flocked the registration sites. Some had to bring logbooks with hundreds of names listed. Jemai the generous Road  Eater registered all Road Eaters and paid their registration fees. Wow!

The event happened a week after the Milo Marathon Finals. It was a good form of addiction for the RoadEaters, but aware of some lessons in the past so they decided to jog slow, chat with co-RoadEaters, tease each other, make jokes, and do hilarious running acts just like what Kevin did. They also welcomed Eya, who showed strength during her first run.

Watch how they enjoyed the run and approached the finish line altogether!

36th Milo Marathon National Finals 2012

This year, the biggest, longest, and grandest national MILO Marathon eliminations were held in different cities across the country in continuing to help raise funds in providing running shoes for the underprivileged children.

On July 29, former Elite Runners Josh, Kirk, Jemai, BJ and Jek joined the Manila eliminations. After waiting for almost 5 months, the transformed Road Eaters were back for the Milo Marathon’s culminating event.

It was a challenging run. All runners need to be serious to finish their chosen category for a specified time frame or else they would be picked-up by Milo’s official vehicle. Most of the Road Eaters succeeded in beating their previous PRs. What’s more, they’re very proud of Lyvia.

All Road Eaters successfully crossed the finish line within the time limit. Lootbags given to all runners were stuffed with Nestle goodies. Beautifully engraved medals were received by the 21K runners. And Jemai printed the names of each Road Eater on their certificates. All these make all runners Champions For Life.

Nike "We Run Manila" 2012

A sea of more than 13,000 runners hit the roads of Pasay City for the Nike “We Run Manila”. This global Nike We Run race series kicked off on September 1 in Prague, Czech Republic, and will conclude on December 15 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

This year, the participants assembled at SM Mall of Asia grounds activity area for the race flag off at 5:30AM and crossed the finish line at Seaside Boulevard.

The Road Eaters couldn't simply miss this branded race. Nike’s expensive and high quality technical shirt awaited all finishers. Having learned from their Nike’s 2011 race, they expected the thick crowd. Celebrities also participated.

This was a perfect time to slow down, chat with other Road Eaters and meet their newest and youngest member – Jeff.

The shy and timid (only on that day), Jeff recently celebrated his 18th birthday. He was the second non-mutual friend who became resonant with the Road Eaters after Hanna.

Run United Philippine Marathon 2012

The Road Eaters together with 12,000 estimated number of running enthusiasts became part of history as race organizer Runrio and Unilab Active Health launched its first-ever marathon in promoting nationalism through sportsmanship.

Almost late for the 21K gunstart, the Road Eaters hurried at the starting line. That was the first run without any warm up. New members Carol (who was previously an Elite Runners' buddy) and athletic Arjay joined the Road Eaters Running Club for the first time on their first 21K run.

Where else could they find finishing a marathon in an exclusive red carpet finish line under an exclusive finish arc with colorful balloons while cow bells ring and marching bands, video/photo shots and other surprises await? (what a mouthful!). The Road Eaters didn't see those stuffs. Those were for the 42K runners only! Toinks!

Here's something to be proud of: What the club offered in this marathon is its blasting 10K and 21K runners.

Oh c'mon, RUPM is just a practice game. Soon, they'll eat that 42K road. More than that. And maybe a grand circus parade will await them. Teehee!

To finish the race carrying miniature Philippine flags and wearing the symbolic singlets in blue, red and white was definitely patriotic. Definitely the colors of the Road Eaters Running Club.

Rexona Run 2012

A week after surpassing Run United III, enthusiastic 21K Road Eaters Josh, Kirk, Jemai and BJ challenged themselves for another running event. In just a matter of 7 days, those almost fully-charged Road Eaters were ready to outrun themselves. They were joined with new members Julie and Wax who ran their first 21K. Lyvia was there to support them.

Rexona Run 2012, which was originally set in SM Mall of Asia last August 12, 2012, was postponed to September 23, 2012 due to the effects of the Habagat Disaster. With the theme “Outrun Yourself!” this much-awaited race provided more fun-filled activities for over 8000 participants.

The Road Eaters’ strong willpower pushed them to their limits. Injuries were inevitable and a new lesson was learned:  that was not to run in two consecutive major running events without ample rest and recovery.

But these were the reasons why this run was still one of those memorable events:

Lucky Lyvia got a RUNNR’s visor. Somebody unknowingly left it!

Lootbags were filled with lots of goodies after the race!

Best of all, each of the Road Eaters received their Finisher’s Medal.

The Rexona Run 2012 organizers were very proud MAKING FUN-filled activities. And the Road Eaters were also proud MAKING FUN of themselves.
