EXPLORAC Trail Run 2013

There are many marathons out there to be had, but not many like Ayala Land and R.O.X.’s EXPLORAC Trail Run. This was the club’s 3rd out-of-the-metro run and 2nd trail experience. This marathon set out in just a matter of 6 days after their flashy Run United II marathon.

Lucky Jerome, he got 15 free slots all-in-all for 11K and 22K. Fifteen Road Eaters got this rare chance to experience this difficult challenge without registration fees. This adventure took the Road Eaters on a one-of-a-kind scenic run along dusty lahar-laden paths amidst the grassy plains and streams partly surrounded by the forest.

The run started at Ayala’s Visitor Center and ended at the Ayala Nature Park. Enter scorching sun and its unbearable heat turned the site into a desert-like scenario. Unlike the sandy dunes in Ilocos, Porac, Pampanga’s desert-like appearance is due to the volcanic mudflow. Streams served as oases and runners had no choice but to cross them. Surprisingly, there was a short rope segment where runners had to do steep climbs. In just one day, the Road Eaters experienced the earth like never before.

Run United II 2013

This day marked a special period of the evolution of the Road Eaters Running Club with the launching of the official club singlet, designed by their very own Jemai. The singlets have white, blue and red colors and features the club logo in front and the member's name at the back.

The RU2 experience was definitely awesome wearing the attire that represents the club. Anyone who wears it could stand-out from the rest. Some runners caught the attention of the Road Eaters wearing RERC singlets within the sea of dark-colored RU2 singlets. They would say to themselves, "Whoa! Who the heck are those running in white, blue and red singlets?" or others would say, "Those singlets look so cool. Maybe I should join their club!" Maybe that was one reason why the club was featured in the Unilab Facebook page after the race and lots got interested to join the club for the first time.

For the Road Eaters, it was easy to find their lost running buddies. On the other hand, sending cheers to their co-Road Eaters wearing the official club singlets even on the other side of the road granted an exhilarating feeling and made them proud that they would want to experience it in an unlimited fashion.

Hooray! Make way for another history! First-time 32K runners who braved the race wearing the RERC singlets were Josh, Jemai, BJ and Kevin.
