Knowing that you are helping to create a peaceful world and a safer planet is only a fraction of the pride that a volunteer should feel every time they lend a helping hand.

To volunteer--is to contribute your goodness and works to humanity unselfishly, without seeking any rewards.

A week after the onslaught of a powerful typhoon, twelve mighty Road Eaters (Josh, Kirk, Jemai, Arjay, Jeff, Marvin,  JL, Ray, Mico, Emille, Jane, and Winsor)  devoted time and effort to undertake some tasks at the Department of Social Welfare and Development's Relief Operations Hub in Pasay City.

What they did was just a little way to help out fellow Filipinos in the affected areas of Super Typhoon Yolanda.

At 2:00 PM they had their meeting place at Alpha Land Mall near MRT Magallanes Station. Then, by the use of JL's vehicle, they drove their way without knowing the exact location of the hub. They only knew that it was at the back of NAIA Terminal 2. But the club got there easily because during that time, it was noticeable; army trucks with goods were going in and out of that place.

Upon arriving at 4:00 PM, the club registered first, and then left some goods that they have brought with them. The area was very busy. It was a big warehouse full of army and navy people with other civilians.

While waiting to be oriented, a DSWD personnel asked if someone could distribute biscuits to the new volunteers in the orientation area. Kirk pleasurably did the job.

A couple of minutes after, someone came and asked for volunteers who could distribute drinking water to all people all over the area.  The club stood up immediately to volunteer. They delivered gallons and cups to everyone and all thirsty volunteers were hydrated that afternoon.

They went back to the orientation area. The club's arrival was just in time to complete the number of volunteers for batch orientation.

After the orientation, the DSWD personnel asked if someone could replace her to orient the next batches of volunteers.  Josh conducted the proceeding orientations.

The rest of the gang were deployed to repack and lift sacks of rice. Marvin and Emille were assigned to do the inventory checking of all the goods going out of the warehouse.

The great work ended at 8:00 PM. They bid goodbye to their fellow volunteers and DSWD personnel. And of course… they had a photo opportunity with the Army with all the goods they repacked in the background.

It might have been a long and tiring day… It might be a long ride back home… but it was yet another fulfilling experience for each of the volunteers from the Road Eaters Running Club.
