On November 8, 2013, Typhoon Yolanda, (International name Haiyan), one of the most powerful typhoons in the world and the second deadliest in the Philippines, claimed the lives of  about 4,000 Filipinos as of this time. It caused destruction of properties and livelihood in the central Philippines.

Rovic Canono of The Greentennial Run organized Rescue Run 2013, a marathon that aimed at uniting Filipino running communities to help the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.

For a minimum donation of P150.00,  runners could choose between 5K and 10K categories. Five members of the Road Eaters Running Club joined this race for a cause on November 16, 2014, 8 days after the devastating typhoon made its first landfall.

Before the gunstart, there was a moment of silence. All who joined the race were asked to offer prayers for the typhoon victims.

People of all walks of life were seen running or walking at Bonifacio Global City and then going up the Kalayaan Flyover. One round (5K) or two rounds (10K) of legwork were offered to their fellow countrymen. They were also given a chance to write down their sympathies and motivational support.

A total of P293,380 were donated by the registrants through this run for a cause.
